The Mortal Kombat franchise is famous for its incredible blood, gratuitous violence and brutal deaths. It seems that the team has no interest in slowing this down while on a journey into the world of animated film!
At the recent Final Kombat 2020 tournament, the team decided to launch the Red Band trailer for the next movie Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge. As the name suggests, much of it is based on the titular and iconic character Scorpion as he pursues another icon, Sub-Zero, to avenge the death of his family and his clan.
Of course, there is more to it than that. The film seems to tell the story of one of the many Mortal Kombat tournaments between Earthrealm and Netherrealm to decide the fate of the former, with Netherrealm emperor Shao Khan in a single victory to be able to take back the lands of Earthrealm. We will join the story at the start of the tenth Mortal Kombat tournament, the tournament apparently taking place according to the tradition of titles that we have followed so far. Scorpion has its iconic chains and shouts Get Over Here! in the trailer as you would expect. We also see Johnny Cage hitting Sonya Blade, Goro separating people, and Shang Tsung saying the much-loved finish line that we all recognized.
We put the tweet from franchise co-creator Ed Boon on top of that, but be aware that it’s highly rated R for language, as well as lots and lots of blood. It looks like it will be true for the franchise, for sure.
The animation is unique and beautiful, preventing things from becoming too cartoony while leaning in the animated style.
